This step-by-step guide outlines the process for verifying assets in the CASM Asset Management Platform. Asset verification ensures that records match what’s physically on the ground, it helps maintain accurate data, reduces risk, and assists with condition assessment for decision-making.
Step 1: Navigate to the Verification Screen
Open the CASM mobile application
Log in using your email address and password
From the home screen, select “Verify” from either the menu option or the shortcut key
Step 2: Scan the Asset Tag
Touch the blue icon on the verify screen to open your phone’s camera
Hold your phone approximately 15-20 centimeters away from the asset tag/QR code
Position the camera to focus clearly on the barcode
If the image is blurry, move your phone slightly back and forth to help it focus
If multiple barcodes are visible, cover one with your finger so the camera reads only the intended tag
Step 3: Review Asset Information
Once scanned, the system will display the registered information for that asset
Confirm the location information is correct
If the asset is not in the location shown, clear the location field by selecting the “X”
Select the correct current location from the available options
Step 4: Verify Asset Details
Confirm the asset is categorized correctly (e.g., computer equipment, manufacturer, model)
If information is incorrect, make appropriate changes if your permissions allow
Step 5: Assess Asset Condition
Select the condition field to perform a condition assessment
Choose the appropriate condition from the preset options (e.g., good, damaged, broken)
Add notes in the free text field to provide additional information about the asset’s condition. Jot down any issues or concerns about the asset. Include details that might be relevant for maintenance or replacement decisions
Step 6: Photograph the Asset
Take a photo of the asset if needed by selecting the photo option. Photos are automatically compressed to minimize data usage.
Step 7: Complete the Verification
Once all information is confirmed and updated, select “Verify Asset”
The system will confirm successful verification
The asset’s status will be updated to “verified” in the system
You will return to the verification screen ready to scan the next asset
Additional Notes:
The system records who verified each asset, when, and the geolocation of where the verification took place.
