This step-by-step guide explains how to check assets in and out using the CASM Mobile App. The check-in/check-out feature allows organisations to track who is responsible for an asset when it is temporarily issued or returned. By scanning the asset and assigning it to a user, CASM creates a clear, traceable record of asset movement, helping teams maintain accountability and accurate asset records.
Step 1: Go to the Physical Asset
Go to the asset and stand physically in front of it.
You’ll need to scan the asset tag to check it in or out, so being on-site is important.
Step 2: Open CASM and Log In
Open the CASM mobile app on your phone.
Log in using your email address and password.
Step 3: Navigate to the Check In / Check Out Screen
From the home screen, tap “Check In Check Out.”
You can usually find this in the menu or under Quick Actions.
Step 4: Select the Contact to Check Out the Asset
Choose the person you want to assign the asset to.
You can scroll through the contact list or type their name to filter the results and find the correct person quickly.
If your employees have company ID cards, you can use the scan icon next to the contact dropdown. This allows you to scan their ID card instead of selecting them manually from the list.
Step 5: Set a Return Date (Optional)
If the asset needs to be returned, set a return date.
You can also schedule a reminder to help ensure the asset is returned on time.
Step 6: Scan the Asset Identifier
Tap the blue scan icon to open your phone’s camera.
Hold your phone steady and point the camera at the barcode/identifier.
Wait for CASM to scan automatically.
Confirm the scan worked by checking that the identifier displays back on screen.
Step 7: Complete the Check Out Process
If the asset is being issued to a user, tap “Check Out.”
The asset will now be assigned to that person.
Once the check-out is complete, the user will receive an email confirmation.
This email confirms that the asset has been checked out to them.
Step 8: Completing the Check In Process
When the asset is returned, follow the same process except select Check In.
Select the contact returning the asset, scan the asset tag, confirm the details, and tap “Check In.”
Once the check-in is complete, the asset is returned to its original location.
